A newborn with heart outside body

This is rarest of rare case in medical history. Have you ever seen heart pumping outside the chest? What did you said? No …. I am talking about a baby, Naseem Hasni, delivered by Caesarean section has gone through the corrective surgery because of his heart outside the chest in Maimi. According to Dr. Eliot Rosenkranz, a cardiothoracic surgeon Naseem will not be able to play certain kinds of sports but he can enjoy in participating other sorts of activities.
Before surgery his heart outside the chest looks like peeled plum with the aorta diving back underneath the skin. He was not having problem in breathing.
It was six-hour operation. The doctors first wrapped Naseem’s heart in Gore-Tex, then a layer of his own skin. The heart was then slowly eased inside his chest.
This is the case of rare congenital defect, ectopia cordis occurs 5.5 to 7.9 times per 1 million live births. After surgery the survival rate is less than 50 percent.
