In a bid to register his name into the Guinness Book of World Records, a 15-year-old son of two doctors performed a filmed Caesarean section birth as his parents guided him in southern India. Though successful, yet the boy’s father could be stripped of his license and may face criminal charges for endangering a person’s life.

Dr. K. Murugesan wanted his son in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest surgeon, so he filmed the whole operation. The CD clearly shows 15year old Dhileepan Raj performing a Caesarean section to an Indian Medical Association chapter in the southern state of Tamil Nadu last month.

The medical community shocked at the surgery has condemned it as an ethical and legal violation.

Murugesan, who owns and runs a maternity hospital in the city of Manaparai, could be prevented from practicing and face criminal charges for allowing his son to perform an extremely serious operation. Instead of expressing regret, Murugesan accused the Manaparai medical association of being jealous of his son’s achievements. Validating his son’s act, he said he had been training him for the last three years.

The state health secretary, V.K. Subburaj, said that the government would investigate whether it is a violation or not.

Meanwhile, the mother and the baby are doing well.

It is everyone’s dream to record his or her names in world records. But, such feats that directly endanger the life of others need to be avoided.
