Outmoded, mislaid, committed to memory, re-erected and then, put on exhibition – talking about those rotary phones that you do not see anywhere now, and you actually need to visit Jean Luc Cornec’s exhibit at the Museum of Communications in Frankfurt to believe that they existed at some point in time. Some staring at others, some pose as nibbling, some looking skywards, while some others gawking at the telephonic craniums; all look identical.
Since the vintage device has faced extinction, so will it be with the things faking permanence. As the old, analog, rotary phones are brought around, you’d see the future generations resurrecting hi-tech contraptions that we’re proud of at the moment.
