Reusing wine bottles creatively to decorate your home

Reusing wine bottles creatively to decorate your home

All of us have wine bottles at home. The filled ones remain in use, while the empty ones lie idly in the attic or basement. Very few of us remember about their lifeless existence to take them to recycling centers. But, if we devote some of our precious time and imagination to these bottles every day, we can turn them into useful and beautiful objects that can glamorize our home. You can scroll down for ideas:

The Transformations:

1. Wine Bottles transformed into Vases: Slender stems of flowers look beautiful in empty wine bottles left unaltered. In order to accommodate bigger bouquets, you can cut the necks of the bottles in different interesting angles. Vases made from wine bottles look stylish and elegant.

For cutting wine bottles at home, you need to stick to the following steps:

a. Clean the empty wine bottle in every way possible. Use water and mild soap for the cleansing. If you want to remove the labels, use a microfiber cloth and a gentle adhesive remover. Allow the bottles to dry completely.

b. Buy a scoring tool and draw an even scoring line around the empty bottle.

c. Light a candle to heat the wine bottle at the line scored. Continue the heating for a minute or so before pouring cold water over it. Go on repeating this procedure till the bottle finally breaks at the scored mark.

2. Wine Bottles transformed into Glasses: In order to make a glass, you need to cut the bottle you have selected to the required size. You need to follow the cutting method described above.

After the cutting is done, you can decorate the glasses in whichever way you want to. You can get etchings done from the nearby sand blaster. You can even spray paint them.

3. Wine Bottles transformed to Lighting: Wine bottles look beautiful when they are used in different creative forms of lighting.

You can create nice twinkle lights with wine bottles with the help of your strings of Christmas lights. You only need a drill in order to make these lights at home. Here is the detailed procedure:

You can create tiki torches with wine bottles. Used both outdoors and indoors, these torches add an old world ambience to your house.

You can use wine bottles as the stems of lampshades. When you want to create these bottle lamps, you should try and use vintage wine bottles in place of normal ones.

You can create interesting chandeliers with wine bottles. These are suspension lights with an edge of difference. Wine bottles hanging from a higher panel or the ceiling itself look gorgeous when lighted.

Tips:

Encourage family and friends to give you the empty wine bottles lying unused at their places. This enables you to have a varied stock of different sizes and shapes.
