The Six Essential Tips to The Perfect Bedtime Routine

Essential Tips to The Perfect Bedtime Routine

Getting in the mood for bedtime can be quite the challenge! We’ve all had those nights where we end up scrolling social media or searching online for LA Chopper Bars for a Christmas gift. The next thing we know, it’s way past our bedtime.

A nighttime routine is so important to make sure you get the best sleep you can. Here are some tips to perfect your bedtime routine!

1.  Avoid or Limit Alcohol

A nice glass of wine sounds perfect to wind down after a busy day. However, alcohol may not be the best if you want a quality night of sleep. (Don’t shoot the messenger!)

Instead of reaching for that bottle of Cabernet, consider some more sleep-friendly beverage options. There are plenty of comforting, soothing teas that can settle your restless mind before hitting the hay.

2.  Establish a Healthy Skincare Routine

Nobody wants to go to bed with oil and dirt on their skin! It’s important that you try and establish a healthy skincare routine that you can do each night. You don’t have to go overboard with it, but you certainly want to make sure you’re washing your face with a gentle exfoliant.

Besides washing the grime of the day off of your face, you can consider adding in some treatments like moisturizer and retinol. Both products have been shown to help soothe skin and prevent fine lines. We are on board with that!

3.  Make Your Bed

You don’t have to make your bed as soon as you get up, but it does create a difference if you make it before you settle down for the night. Sleeping in a made bed gets you in the comfortable zone right away.

Making your bed also allows you to have one last task for the day. If you aren’t feeling so great about what you accomplished that day, you can feel good about making your bed. It’s the little things that matter the most sometimes.

4.  Easy Reading

Put down the phone for a little while before bed and grab a book! You don’t need to read for hours on end, but just a bit of light reading can help get you in that perfect sleepy mood.

You should opt for fictional books or books on poetry. Pick reading material that is easy to digest and use your imagination for. Limiting your screen time and reading instead provides a plethora of positive benefits to your bedtime routine!

5.  Set the Tone

Getting in the mood to sleep is key! You want to choose soft lighting and try to stay away from brighter lights (this includes your TV!). Purchasing a soft lamp for the bedroom and living room is a great investment that allows you to have a relaxing atmosphere once it’s time to think about catching up on sleep.

Candles and essential oils are designed to make a room comfortable. Options like lavender and chamomile have proven to relax and calm people, so try and find scents similar to those. You’ll be asleep in no time!

6.  Invest in PJs

Pajamas aren’t just for kids! Find yourself a comfortable set of flannel or satin PJs to wear to bed each night. While t-shirts and sweats are also fine, pajamas can really get you in the sleepzone when it’s time for bed.

PJs are designed for sleep, whereas traditional clothing isn’t. Try some on for yourself and see what you think!
