Make small kitchen look bigger with these space saving tips

A small kitchen doesn’t offer one the liberty to move freely in it and there often isn’t enough space in it to keep everything well organized. Nevertheless, you can make your small kitchen look bigger using these simple tricks.

Mirror and glass

For a kitchen that is especially cramped for space, using mirrors in the backsplash and in place of glass in the cabinets can help create the illusion of extra space and extra light in the kitchen.

Stack cabinets upwards

A good way to maximize the space that is available in your kitchen is to stack cabinets upwards. You can also try redoing the wall cabinets to extend right up to the ceiling. This will help you make full use of the vertical space very well. If your ceiling is very high, you may need to keep a stepladder by the kitchen to access higher shelves.

Armless chairs and stools for eat in kitchens

If your eat-in kitchen isn’t large enough to accommodate a regular sized dining arrangement, you can use stools or armless chairs to maximize the space.

Use trays to contain kitchen clutter

If you find your kitchen counters overrun with stuff, you can always use trays to keep bottles of pickles, sugar, cream, cups etc. you can use trays of various size to organize items that are used together like condiments or tea things. This makes it easy to carry them to the dinner table when needed and they can easily be carried back and placed on the kitchen counter later.

Spice-Rack style Cabinet saves a lot of space

A spice rack mounted right next to the cooking range can help keep your spices organized wile freeing up precious cabinet or shelf space.

Make everything the same color

If your kitchen is really tiny, you can always have everything painted in the same color, preferably white. Pick a light colored countertop and have all your cabinet doors, seating and backsplash etc. done in white to diffuse light and create the illusion of extra space.

Open Shelving

Open shelving helps reduce the space a small kitchen needs to have when cabinets are opened. Open shelves also keeps everything within easy reach and visible so you don’t have to go opening and shutting cabinet doors to find what you need.

Summary

For small spaces, a remodeling or redecorating project can maximize efficiency and minimize clutter if you keep the above-mentioned tricks and tips.
