‘Bike for the World’ ties up to recycle discarded bikes and trikes

Bicycles themselves come with a green tag, but what if we could make them even greener. In an effort by the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority (BCSWA) and “Bikes for the World”, this is exactly what we will see. The two have signed an agreement to implement a one-year pilot program under which unwanted bicycles and tricycles will be collected, recycled and reused.

The organization under the pilot project will be recycling the discarded bicycles or tricycles at the Grapevine Road Recycling Center or the South Berkeley Recycling Center. The main objective behind the project is to gather discarded bicycle and related parts, tools and accessories in the United States and distribute them to community development programs assisting the poor. The duo will be recycling bicycles or tricycles of any age, condition or manufacture.
