Women working on farms more likely to develop breast cancer!

A new Canadian study may baffle women working on the farms, because it reveals they are more likely to develop breast cancer.

This study went on for 18-months and it included 564 women around Winsdsor, Ont., who were either 55 or under and were diagnosed with breast cancer and found that about 154 women had either worked on the farms or were working on the farms.

Researchers believe that women who work on farms their chances of developing breast cancer are 2.8 times higher than the women who do not work on the farms.

In the words of study author James Brophy, who is executive director of the Occupational Health Clinic for Ontario Workers in Windsor:

We feel fairly comfortable that there is something going on in a farming setting, agricultural setting, that may be contributing to this risk.

Researchers believe that women working on the farms are often exposed to pesticides, diesel smoke etc. these can also be the reason behind the emergence of breast cancer.
