Hospital infections kill about 10,000 people every year!

Visiting hospitals is also not safe, as an estimate exhibits that about 10,000 people are killed by infections, which they get from hospitals where they visit in a hope of getting better health. This may sound somewhat weird but this is the grim reality. And the following examples help us understand this grim situation, which is prevailing in the hospitals of England. Actually, tough government targets to slash the number of deaths from hospital superbugs looks almost deviating from its real goal. There is another example too, which show the severity of the problem. Government had ordered health trusts to at least halve the annual 5,000-strong death toll by the year 2008, but the Department of Health had openly denied taking this challenge saying that it would fail to reach this challenge after it found that the number of people infected with MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) could come just 2 percent lower.

Actually, this is just a short example how people are being infected with MRSA in hospitals and the message that is spreading out of such incidents is that hospitals are also not as safe as they are considered to be. The threat of MRSA infection is not only to be found in the hospitals of England but also in the hospitals in the U.S. Unfortunately, the situation is worst in developing countries, where a big number of patients die every year due to MRSA infection.

However, the question remains unanswered that can MRSA be prevented? The answer is yes, but only if health workers, doctors and we all follow few important tips like not sharing soap or towels with each other, instantly reporting about any poor cleaning to the hospital authorities, take antibiotics as instructed and always finish the course. Moreover, I would like to add that all of us will have to take safety measures, only then deaths due to MRSA or infections, which might caught us in the hospitals, can be prevented from devouring thousands of lives every year.
