India tops the list of HIV cases worldwide. It has now about 5.7 million AIDS patients. The UNAIDS official report revealed this data. It says further that it is very difficult to know that how many patients are receiving anti-retroviral drugs in India.
HIV pervasiveness is higher in the industrialized peninsular states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. While Sub-Sahara Africa has 5.5 million HIV infection cases places second after India. Moreover, the distribution of anti-retroviral drugs to the HIV-affected patients across the country does not touch the international parameters. This is making the situation even more worse.
