Bolton is at risk of becoming the major alcohol consuming death region. About 1,527 people were admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital because of alcohol-related illness or injury during last twelve months. Moreover, 1,940 incidents of violence caused by drinking were reported during the same period.
The administration is planning to recruit more health workers to curb the problem posing by drinking in this area. The medical experts are accumulating an alcohol strategy. It will be ready by the month of September.
According to Jan Hutchinson, director of public health for Bolton Primary Care Trust, ‘the alcohol treatment services are somewhat small in this region and it should develop more. People need counseling support to make their drinking under control’.
