British teens top European 'Sexually Active' list, raises alarm for STDs

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has put a report under the light according to which British teenagers have emerged as most sexually active in the whole Europe. According to the data provided in this report, 38 per cent of the British teenagers are sexually active while the percentage of sexually active teenagers in countries like Spain, Poland and Germany is much lesser.

This report has also revealed the fact that most of the British teenagers do not use condom during sexual intercourse, which is the root cause of worry. It is worth knowing that in the last few years, sexually related diseases such as Chlamydia and herpes has surged amazingly in the younger British generation.

In the present scenario, it has become quite essential for the British government to promulgate sex-education, especially among teenagers so that the spread of sexually related diseases may be checked. Giving vent to the same idea, Julia Margo, senior research fellow for the IPPR, said:

Our education system must respond in kind and start teaching children about the risks involved in sex before they even consider taking those risks.
