Africa Engulfed By Bird Flu

A mass poultry slaughter may be required even in the world’s poorest continent following confirmation that the highly virulent H5N1 form of bird flu has been discovered in there. It’s Africa. That’s necessary true, but, will it be able to meet the capital loss that will follow the mass slaughter?

With the viral infection born in south-east Asia in 2003, it seems to spread inexorably across the world. It was confirmed only after more than 40,000 poultry died on a large commercial farm in Nigeria.

Nigerian officials had reported the outbreak of the H5N1 strain on the farm in Jaji, a village in the northern state of Kaduna, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) informed.
