UN advices nations to develop disaster risk management

With the globe warming up, the climate has been changing rapidly. Frequent floods, quakes and other natural disasters are more than likely. In a recent statement, the UN called upon the nations to get ready for frequent natural disasters. The mega disaster has already started.

As of now, there has already been a record number of floods, storms and droughts through out the world. All of this is because of the climate change and it’s effects. Currently, about 250 million people are affected by the global climate change. The number is a third more than a decade ago.

The weirdest thing is a crazy weather pattern change throughout the whole world. For example, it never rained in and around my city in October. Monsoons stopped before October. Nowadays, the rains go on till late October and then some. This is probably the best time to introduce efficient disaster risk management throughout the world.

The Red cross and Red Crescent have become more active than ever. This year, the International Federation responded to about 487 disasters, which are up from 278 in 2004. With this many people being affected, climate change has become the top priority for the agencies. Need to introduce a disaster risk management plan has never been more pressing than present.
