Arms of thieves and dacoits will soon transform into London Olympics site. According to the Metropolitan Police of London, knives and guns seized from London thugs are under recycling process to provide building materials for the 2012 Olympic Games. For this initiative that has a social and environmental benefit associated with it, nearly 52 tons of scrap metal from guns, knives and old keys has been collected in the last financial year.
The steel, iron and other precious metals recovered from 52 tons of scrap metal were melted to put it to use for the construction. A portion of the material is being sent to the Olympic site in Stratford, east London. The force must be applauded for its green efforts. During the last financial year, the force recycled a total of 3,182 tons of waste, which included uniforms, firing range bullets and horse manure. Recycling of the arms is the most noble initiative for me though. With those weapons reduced in number, let’s hope for a safer and peaceful future.
