Four simple ways to celebrate an eco-friendly Halloween

Halloween is spooky in nature but it need not be scary for the environment. Let your kids celebrate an Eco friendly Halloween this autumn. Let this night of fright just be funny and entertaining for the kids but not for the environment. To let this happen you have to celebrate the Halloween in some ways that are friendly to the nature. Let us see how.

  1. Choose make -up instead of masks

Masks are usually made of plastic and when discarded after Halloween is over it can cause soil pollution. So, in order to avoid this it is better to use make up instead of these masks. These are not only friendly to the nature but also they will save you money and you can teach your kid the importance of preserving the nature.

  2. Let your kids use a flash light

The neon glow sticks that you buy your kids to use on Halloween are usually made of toxic materials and plastic and they are harmful to the environment. Choose a safer option like a flashlight with re-chargeable batteries which not is an Eco friendly option but also you can reuse the flashlight a number of times instead of throwing them away like neon lights and causing damage to the nature.

  3. Sharing the booty

There are kids who do not get to even celebrate Halloween, so when your kid comes home loaded with sugar filled candies and treats and lots of other gifts ask them to share at least one-third of their stuff with these poor kids. You can drive your kids to a children shelter or youth center and drop these goodies that your kid has agreed to share. You will be so glad you did this. Also this would be a successful parenting act to teach your kids the importance of sharing.

  4. Save the costumes

This is one important thing you must keep in your mind. Just do not throw away the Halloween costumes your kids have used them this year. wash them and store them safely in your cupboard so that you can use it the following year. If your kid is not willing to wear the same next year then you can try and exchange them with your friendly neighbors kids. This way each kid gets a new costume each year and each costume gets more than one use out of it.

So, these are some wonderful ways to have a green Halloween. Follow these ideas and help save our planet in whatever little way can. Have a great Halloween this autumn.
