Grooming mistakes that men unwittingly fall for

Grooming mistakes that men unwittingly fall for

Men have become quite conscious about the importance of taking care of their physical beauty. Many of them not only follow a strict diet regime and exercise regularly but also clean and moisturize their faces.

However, even the fitness and beauty conscious modern men unknowingly make some grooming mistakes that can be damaging. Here in the following some of these grooming mistakes have been listed to guide men.

Dry Shaving

Dry shaving is shaving without using any shaving gel, foam or water. Men resort to it when they are in a hurry. But it can cause cuts, burns, rashes and lead to ingrown hair and shaving bumps.

Shaving products like oils, gels and foams help in reducing the friction between the razor and the skin. They help the razor glide smoothly so that the skin is not hurt or injured in any way. Try shaving gels which have natural ingredients like aloe Vera or glycerin for nourishing the skin and minimizing inflammation.

Not using moisturizer before bedtime

When it comes to personal grooming a huge number of men tend to be reluctant to follow a well planned regime and moisturize their skin when needed. Before going to the bed one should use a nourishing night cream or lotion on the face for moisturizing.

A moisturizer returns the hydration to the skin that cleansing strips off. Another mistake is to apply just about any lotion or cream on your face without knowing how it interacts with the skin and what benefits it imparts. Try to use moisturizers that suit your skin type and look for ingredients like resveratrol, Vitamin A, C and E for keeping your skin soft and youthful.

Messy eyebrows and unkempt stubbles

Some scientific studies claim that women are more attracted to men who have facial hair like stubble instead of the clean shaven faces. However, if you really want to sport a stubble, then you must groom it well. Learn to trim the stubble properly so that it does not make you look like a vagabond but a rugged man.

Messy eyebrows mar the beauty of your facial beauty. Grooming the eyebrow by using a brow gel or plucking out unruly hairs with tweezers will help in enhancing the features of your face.

Using facial razors for removing body hair

The body razors and facial razors are different. Using your facial razor for removing coarse and thick hair from the armpit, chest and other private regions of the body is a mistake. The manual or electric body razors have comfort guards that make it easy to shave without cutting or damaging the skin. For your face the safety razor or cartridge razor are good choices.

Trying to grow out thinning hair

If you have balding tendency then turn it into your statement look by shaving your hair. You must have seen men who have completely shaven heads yet look incredibly appealing. Do not try to grow the thinning hair because it looks pitiable. You also may opt for trimming your hair short to adjust with the changes.

Neglecting the feet and hands

Another grave mistake is to not take care of your hands and feet properly. The feet can grow calluses and become smelly if not washed, cleaned, scrubbed and moisturized. After a long day at work soak your feet in a tub of warm water and use a bathing gel for cleaning. Pumice stone helps in keeping the heel soft. Trim the nails of hands and feet for a well groomed look. Also, try to use good quality hand and foot creams at night.

Men have become more fitness and health conscious but they still keep making some very common grooming mistakes. Not trimming the beard, not maintaining hygiene and dry shaving are just few examples of bad grooming habits that men need to chuck.
