Common third trimester pregnancy concerns

Pregnancy has many associated complications. Women usually complain of feeling tired and heavy. There are also issues of frequent pelvic pains and extreme bowel movement. Consult a dietitian and begin consuming a well-balanced and nutritious diet. Include plenty of fruits, green leafy vegetables and fiber-rich edibles in your meal. Supplement these with regular and gentle exercise. Moreover, drink about eight to ten glasses of water a day in order to keep your body hydrated.

2. Varicose veins

With the bodily ejection of relaxin, the blood vessels begin to relax and thus protrude. This protrusion of blood vessels is precisely what results into the formation of varicose veins. Though it has been found that varicose veins may not occur in every pregnant woman, most women become perceptibly prone to their occurrence. However, if you exercise due caution in your sitting and standing postures every day, their formation would only be a remote possibility. Do not sit or stand on one leg or one posture for too long. 3. Sore skin

As the baby grows inside you, your skin begins to stretch. This extra pull which is exerted on your skin causes it to become sore, itchy and at times, painful. The best option you have at this time is to keep your skin creamy and smooth. For doing this, you will have to regularly apply moisture-inducing creams on the area around your pelvis. This application will further help in reducing stretch marks after delivery. Also ensure that you do not scratch your skin during this time as this may cause permanent rashes.

4. Pelvic or abdominal pain

Almost every pregnant woman experiences pelvic or abdominal pains during the third trimester. This is due to the sheer growth of the baby and the adaptations your body is making to support the fetus. Nevertheless, if you feel severe and intolerable bouts of pain at frequent intervals or if blood consistently oozes out of your vagina, consult your doctor instantly as this may have serious implications. The pelvic pains are usually accompanied by shortness of breath. At this stage, this is undoubtedly natural. This happens as considering the strain on your blood vessels, your heart has to work harder and pump blood faster. This results into lack of proper breathing. Nevertheless, if this condition exists for a longer period of time, it might as well be symptomatic anemia. Thereby, regular advice from your doctor is deemed necessary in this regard.

5. Sleeping difficulties

Pregnancy and sleep difficulties go hand in hand. Owing to the heat generated by hormones, the body becomes restless and there is immense discomfort. Actually, it does remain this way until delivery. However, if you are planning to consume sleep-inducing tablets at this juncture, you are ill advised. Try to get natural sleep and relax as often as possible. Shirk away all your fears, worries and depressions which may have the potential to keep you awake. This would indeed rectify your sleep deprivation issues.
