China is battling an environmental disaster with incessant rains, awful deluge, worst drought, shrieking lightning putting life at risk. As if this wasn’t enough, the government of China has warned of a more difficult time ahead in the form of sleet, hail, snow hitting the land, a bizarre environment breakdown. Such an environment catastrophe has already devoured 700 people.
The harrowing effects of rising temperatures are already being witnessed in China. Relentless growth, hasty industrialization, ruthless deforestation has helped fuel the mercury to such an enormous extent that has called for disaster. Flooded roads, streets, houses, work places have only added to the misery of the people with diseases spreading like the flood of water. There is water-water everywhere, but shortage of potable drinking water for nearly 7.53 million people, further stimulating the water war. Chinese authorities even put the Three Gorges dam at risk.
Life being a Chinese is quite distressing these days. With the Chinese Central Meteorological Station and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention warning heatstroke from blazing sun after persistent rain, snowfall and sleet, further exposing the Chinese to danger. More severe drought is forewarned.
The entire country is battling the environment disaster, which is the result of callous growth, destruction of forests for huge projects, upsetting the entire ecological balance resulting in floods, drought, landslides, mudslides, lightning and what not. Such an irksome situation has called for attack of poisonous insects and locusts on man and crops, risking life and fauna. Improper disaster mitigation strategy has further put Chinese at peril.
China is ready to fight any external exigency. But is China competent to combat the environment disaster that has hit the country since the beginning of the year? The present state of China is only a forewarning for the rest of the world, to arise, awake and be ready to fight the impending catastrophe. Do we need more proof that global warming is due?
