Many women believe that becoming a mother is the best gift of life. Child birth is no less than a miracle and it can change your entire life. Things you don’t know about getting pregnant

1. Fertile before you ovulate

Apart from ovulating, you need to have sex in the five days before ovulating. A sperm can survive for about 12-14 days before fertilizing. So, the higher the swimmers, the higher the chances of conception

2. Worst enemies of the sperm

Tight shorts can increase body temperature and reduce sperm production leading to lesser chances of conception. So, ask your guy to ditch those shorts.

3. Better sense of smell

Women have a better sense of smell during ovulation, a subtle indication that you must have sex.

4. Meditation and conception

Women who mediate are generally stress-free which increases their chances of conception.

5. Dental hygiene for healthy baby

Make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy. Researches indicate that unhealthy gums or dental problems can cause problems in conception and cause premature birth.

6. Sexier when ovulating

When you are ovulating, you are perceived as sexier and may getting fuller lips and dilated pupils. This is nature’s way of telling that you are ready to conceive.

7. The Pill

The pill can regulate birth, but if stopped, it can also benefit in conception.

Full fat dairy products reduce infertility. So, now you can have full milk latte without any guilt.

Things you didn’t know about being pregnant

1. Pregnant for an year

The average pregnancy duration is 280 days. But some women may be pregnant for more than 9 months. The longest pregnancy duration is 375 days.

2. Pregnant daddy

Many fathers may feel morning sickness or gain abdominal weight during wife’s pregnancy. This is called Sympathetic pregnancy.

3. Glowing skin

The blood flow during pregnancy increases to 50% and therefore, your cheeks are redder. Oil secreting hormones are active and make your skin silkier, smoother and shinier.

4. Eating for two? Nah!

You don’t really need to eat for two; you just need 300 calories extra. But still, you can eat without guilt and gorge on your cravings. Make sure that you don’t gain more than 25 pounds.

5. Growing feet

Your feet may grow up to one shoe size to accommodate the weight increase and also to loosen ligaments for childbirth. But the increase is permanent (the soreness is temporary).

6. Losing 10 pounds

For the first trimester you may feel so sick that you might actually lose pounds.

Pooping is time consuming and may take at least 20 minutes as you tend to get constipated during pregnancy.

8. New entertainment

The child may kick, breathe and move. This becomes entertaining as you and your partner can watch baby’s movements happily.

Things you don’t know about childbirth and labor

1. Pooping during delivery

Muscles used in contractions and pooping are same. Therefore, when you apply pressure during labor, you may even poop. But this is absolutely normal and doctors might not even tell you about it.

2. Contractions afterbirth

Contractions continue even after childbirth as the body tries to relax and prevent further blood loss. But with medications, you might not feel it.

3. You don’t really lie down

You don’t have to lie on the back until you don’t feel like. During the initial stages of contraction, you can move around freely, take a walk and relax.

4. Cookies

Cookies can be soothing during the initial stages of labor and a reward after childbirth.

5. No plan in birth plan

There is no birth plan. If you plan that your baby will be born through certain stages, then you notice that childbirth doesn’t occur as it is planned.

6. The necessary draping

You might want your lower body to be draped as what comes out may not be flattering at all (except the baby) and you might get scared watching blood and poop.

7. Speaking up

If you want childbirth in specific way like in water or through C-section or normal delivery, then you ought to speak up and tell what you require.

8. A focal point

During contractions, it is necessary that you divert your mind from the pain and focus on something. You can focus on some good food you might get post pregnancy or focus on a source a light. Mediate to feel lighter.
