Honda enters robotic lawnmower market with Miimo

Asimo, the most advanced humanoid robot in the world, now has a friend to help him with the household chores. Honda Motor Europe has now entered into the fast-growing European robotic lawnmower market with Miimo, the company’s first commercial robotic product for homes. Powered by a lithium-ion battery, the Honda Miimo does your lawn automatically and works on a ‘continuous cutting’ system. Miimo robotic mower cuts just 2-3mm of grass at a time in a random pattern, and it does it several times each week. Interestingly, Miimo does not collect the cut grass, as the tiny grass clippings are dispersed into the lawn root system and break down to double as a natural fertilizer to ensure and healthy, lush green lawn.

Honda Miimo boasts a high-end combination of controls, timers and real-time sensory feedback. When it needs a recharge, it goes back by itself to the docking station. Miimo detects the electronic signal in the boundary wire and works within it to ensure safety. are independent 360 degree ‘bump’ sensors that help Miimo detect any obstacles in the path. When the bump sensor is activated, Miimo stops and starts mobbing in the opposite direction after making a turn. The Honda Miimo will be available in the UK and Europe next year.
