  •   Hammer

One of the ancient and most essential of all tools is the hammer. It is generally used in those household tasks  where hitting and pounding is necessary.  You can find a large variety of hammers of different weights and handle styles in hardware stores. But, before you buy one for yourself, hold a few of them in your hands and pick the one that fits with your comfort level. The second thing to keep in mind is the most often purpose where you would  be frequently using it.

  • Tape Measure

Another essential object  to be kept in a home tool-kit is a tape measure.  It is a necessary tool when measurements are required.  You can get a wide variety of measuring tape that can distances up to 100 feet. Many people choose to buy 25 feet or 50 feet models for their home toolbox, as these can be easily handled due to their small size and light weight.

  • Pliers

A pair of pliers is another important tool for your home tool box. It can be used for holding objects firmly, compressing or bending any object, cutting wires and pulling out nails. For all kinds of household jobs, the needle nose pliers can be more beneficial than any other types of pliers as it performs all of the  basic work of pliers and is also useful in repairing electrical appliances.

  • Screwdrivers

A screwdriver is another useful object to be placed in a household toolbox. It is mainly required for fastening or un-fastening screws. However, you can use the shank of a screw driver as a pry driver whereas its handle can work as a hammer sometimes. You can get a set of screwdrivers that includes 2 to 20 pieces of screwdriver shanks. These shanks are either flat heads for single slotted screws or Philips head (cross head) screws.
