Life is full of special moments that we cherish and goals that we mean to accomplish, both in our careers and personal lives. However, life can also be stressful. Work can strain you, even if you work at a place you love, like Outdoor Solutions, or even traveling the world as a flight attendant. Our relationships can get muddy. Interests come and go.

It is during these times that meditation sees us through. It’s a useful way to wash away stress, clear your mind, and increase feelings of euphoria. But clearing your mind isn’t always, either, depending on the environment in which you are trying to do so. But nature has provided us with some of the most serene locations to do so in peace.

1.  Open Land

If you’re looking to get away from everything else, bringing only your mind and your body—and maybe a blanket to sit on—finding an open area of land can make for a solid meditation spot. There’s nothing around to disturb you, leaving you with only the sounds of the wind and the sun on your face. Green grass, blue skies, and the occasional chirping of birds make it the perfect isolated location for wiping away all the tension of the day.

2.  Near Water

Nothing is quite as calming as the sound of flowing water. Whether you decide on a nearby lake, a flowing stream, or the beach, water has a way of relaxing the mind and body. The crashing waves and continuous flow often fall into the background of your mind as white noise but remain present enough to act as a sort of calming agent. This is similar to the reason some people sleep to the sound of rain. If you’ve got a way to meditate near a source of water, it is definitely worth a try.

3.  Deep in the Woods

Open land can be extremely blissful, but if you want a little more stimulation in regards to the world around you, traveling deep into the woods might prove to be a better option for you. It’s far enough away from civilization that you won’t be disturbed by honking horns and other city sounds but surrounded by enough of Mother Earth that you won’t find yourself in complete silence. The sounds of scurrying critters, the whistle of birds, and crunching leaves will keep you company.

4.  Clear Your Mind

Finding the perfect spot to meditate can be a journey in and of itself, but nature is full of natural wonders that make for excellent meditation spots. Try doing so near the water, in an open field, in the middle of the woods, or anywhere else that grants you the ability to meditate peacefully.
