For little chefs: Yummy chicken nuggets

Crisp golden chicken nuggets are the all time favorite and a big hit with the kids. These juicy nuggets are easy to make. The recipe for this is less time consuming as well as entertaining for the kids.

Here goes the recipe for preparing chicken nuggets:

  1. Chicken breast – 1 cup roughly chopped

  2. Breadcrumbs – 1/2 cup

  3. Flour – 4 tbs

  4. Pepper – 1 tsp

  5. Salt – 1/4 tsp

  6. Egg – 1

  7. Dried herbs – 1 tsp (optional)

  8. Oil – 1 tbs for brushing

  9. Water

Instructions

  1. Take the uncooked chicken breast and chop it roughly in to bite sized chunks. It can even be cut into strips.

  2. Make a slightly thick batter with the flour, salt, pepper, dried herbs and water.

  3. Break the egg and beat it in a bowl. Keep the bread crumbs ready in a plate.

  4. Take the chicken piece one at a time and first dip it in the flour mixture, followed by the egg and then finally roll it over the bread crumbs.

  5. Heat the grill. Brush some oil over the prepared chicken pieces and cook it in the grill for 10 to 15 minutes till crisp and golden brown. It can also be cooked in oven (15 to 20 minutes at 190C/gas mask 5) or deep fried in oil (for 5 minutes).

  6. Serve with ketchup.

Tips

  1. The recipe can be made with fish fillets too.

  2. Use fresh bread crumbs. It can be homemade or store bought.

Things to watch out for

  1. Grill/oven has to be used under adult supervision.

  2. Do not over cook. Use medium heat for even cooking.

  3. Cook the chicken immediately after dipping it in flour, egg and bread crumbs. Otherwise it will become soggy and will lack the crispness.

  4. Add enough seasonings.

  5. Before grilling the chicken, brush it with some oil for that extra crispness.
