Complexity level: Easy

Estimated time: 1-2 hours

Estimated cost: $20-25

Resource required:

· All purpose flour or flavored cake mix

· 3 eggs

· Half cup of melted butter/oil

· 1 ½ cup of milk

· 2 cups of dark chocolate frosting

· 2 cups of vanilla frosting

· Food color ( choose color based on the baby shower theme)

· Fruit chews

· Snow caps and

· 1 cup chocolate nonpareils

Instructions:

1) Prepare the cake batter:

If you are baking cake at your home, in a large mixing bowl take a packet of cake mix. Add three large eggs, butter/oil, and milk. With a hand mixer, continue whipping the cake mix. Continue mixing unless all the cake mix solid particles disappear and forms a smooth batter.

2) Grease the baking tray and bake your cake:

Now set your oven into 250 degree Celsius and preheat it. Take a square baking tray and grease it with butter. Dust some flour to it and spread butter paper in the tray. Now pour the batter in the tray and bake it. After 45 minutes, check the cake by inserting a wooden skewer. If the skewer comes out clear, then your cake is done. Take the cake out of your oven and allow it to cool down completely.

3) Take out the cake and shape it up:

Check whether the cake is completely cool or not. If it is so, then take it out of the tray and keep it on the clean counter top. With the help of a sharp knife trim the cake top and discard the scraps. Turn the cake upside down and again trim off the lower part of the cake. Discard all the small scraps and with the help of 3 ½ inches of cookie cutter cut the center of the cake. Use your knife to make bib opening by cutting down ½ inch from the center to the edges. Discard or preserve the cut piece.

4) Time for icing:

Mix dark chocolate frosting with black food color. Now in a zip lock place two big spoon of this frosting. If the baby shower theme is for girl choose either pink or peach and if it is a boy then choose blue. Mix the vanilla frosting with pink food color and with the help of a spatula, complete the cake frosting process neatly. Dip the spatula in the cold water very often while frosting as this will help the frosting to set well on the cake.

5) Shape the fruit chew and chocolate nonpareils:

Heat up the fruit chews in the microwave for 3-4 seconds and roll it out to a round shape. With the help of a banana or any other fruit shape cookie cutter, cut the fruit chews. 2-3 fruit structure is enough for decoration. Cut chocolate nonpareils into equal half.

6) Decorate your baby bib cake:

Make line in the edges of the chocolate cake with the black chocolate frosting. Place the snow caps on the edges of the bib opening. Before any of the decoration, allow the frosting to set down in the cake. After frosting you can put the cake inside refrigerator for 30 minutes. Now place the chocolate nonpareils in the outer edges of the frosted cake. Place the fruit shape chews little below the snow caps. Your baby bib cake is all ready to gift!
