This is somewhat perplexing print advertisement launched by Amnesty International in public interest to urge people to write for freedom. The advertisement seems to encourage people to fight for freedom for those who are still trapped in abusive system. However, the advertisement falls short of specifying the nature of freedom to be specific. Therefore, the advertisement speaks for a larger issue to insure freedom of every aspect for every person. The advertisement showing a pencil and the black lines of the pencil appear as if it were iron bars of a jail. And the message of the ad is written in such a style that reflects freedom is struggling to come out of prison.
The presentation of the advertisement is without doubt thought provoking but it is not that articulate that people can understand it instantly. However, it raises a unique aspect of undue atrocities inflicted on innocents as the ad seeks to compel people to write for the cause of freedom thereby making a forceful campaign. It is also appears as if the ad is conveying a double edged message since at one side it reflects that it encourages victims to speak, express and write their complaints and at the same to it seems to be pushing general mass to raise voice against exploitation.
The text of the ad reads, ‘Write for freedom’. The advertisement was created by Saatchi & Saatchi, Malaysia.
