Or should I reconsider it when you say that I can only ride in my Chevrolet? Well, the news is that General Motors has sent a memo to Chevrolet employees at its Detroit headquarters, asking them not to use the word âChevyâ in their communications.
But why?
What GM presents as a reason is its concern about brand consistency.
Weâd ask that whether youâre talking to a dealer, reviewing dealer advertising, or speaking with friends and family, that you communicate our brand as Chevrolet moving forward, says the memo.
That is true. And that is also reason we are surprised at this decision.
âChevyâ is one of the most popular nicknames of a product that has been affirmed by the frequent usages on different circumstances. When you suddenly comes up with a surprising vision, the question of brand consistency (yes the same reason that you said in your memo) comes to the mind.
