Election matters a lot for news channels too. May 16, the day when the General Election results in India were declared, was a prosperous day for the news channels in terms of viewer ship. Which of them bagged the fat shares of this viewer ship?
Among Hindi Channels, Aaj Tak was the most viewed channel, with 27 per cent channel share and STAR News ranked second, with 19 per cent market share.(as per TAM data).
But, what about the English channels? CNN-IBN bags the first place with a channel share of 38 per cent, showing an increase from the 25 per cent recorded in the earlier week. Though Times Now came second, it showed a significant drop in the channel share from 40 per cent to 27 per cent on the counting day.
NDTV 24X7 managed to grab the third position with a marginal increase of 1 per cent in its viewership.
