Land Rover had launched this appealing print advertisement campaign to promote the new powerful 2007 Defender. The campaign apparently aims at boasting the more powerful engine and torque of the latest vehicle in an appropriately exaggerated manner. The advertisement is showing a large ship and a tug, which is powerful enough to tow super tankers and both the vessels are being towed by the latest defender. The advertisement is showing the power of the defender that can tow two heavy vessels and consequently displaying that to tow a large ship there is no need to take help of a tug as the new Defender can do the job.
The presentation of the campaign is extremely simple and straight, which is convincingly displayed the product benefit. Though recently Volkswagen has used the similar idea in its latest campaign where an airplane was being towed by Volkswagen in a similar fashion but in this advertisement the exaggeration meets the logical end of the idea with perfect execution. The text of the ad reads, ‘The new 2007 Defender. More torque, more gears, more pull.’ The advertisement was created by RKCR Y&R, UK.
