This print advertisement was recently launched in Australia by world’s renowned furniture firm IKEA. This advertisement has been reportedly hit the headlines in Australian newspapers last week for its campaign in Fairfax newspapers the Sydney Morning Herald. This print advertisement appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, which is showing a red JERRIK swivel chair with arm-rests at only $569. Interestingly, the punch line reads, ‘We respectfully ask Prime Minister John Howard to sit on it’.

In addition to it, the finer print of the advertisement reads as, ‘Prime Minister John Howard wants to spend almost $3000 on a single chair while this one here offers quality, design and comfort for only $569. In fact, our range of chairs starts from as low as $12.95. Surely that would make us the preferred choice’.

As a matter of fact, the advertisement was published following the news that the Federal Government had bought a new set of executive chairs at a cost to taxpayers of $200,000 – or just under $3000 per chair. Needless saying the advertisement was smart enough to hit the headlines. The advertisement was created by HOST and The Glue Society.
