Money matters. Vatican Radio, known as the âvoice of the Popeâ, is all set to broadcast commercial advertisements, owing to the rising costs. On 6 July it will transmit its first commercial advert.
The commercials will be monitored by an advertising agency, to make sure they are in line with the Catholic moral standards.
Vatican has chosen the Italian electricity multinational ENEL as its first commercial radio sponsor.
Vatican Radio is one of the world’s oldest broadcasters, first going on the air as long ago as 1931. It broadcasts worldwide by short, medium and long wave, by FM in Rome, and also on the internet.
