Dutch Railways: Read the rest of the story

How long will the images win? In a predominantly design-oriented advertising world, there are many who argue that long copy often spoils the message, and sometimes it is true too.
However, we can never ignore the sweet power of a persuasive copy. We have seen how this campaign for a jewelry shop managed to impress us without the gold-clad glittering chicks.

And, what if as long copy without any images is used in an ambient advertising effort?

That is exactly what Dutch railways has done in its promotional effort. On the backside of the vehicle, they pasted an extract from a novel, making an anxious stop, they say- if you had time to read the story this far, you’d better try the train sometime

We can argue that nobody is going to watch this long-copy-oriented effort. However I think that this effort does have some sense and it is worth our attention. After all, advertising is all about thinking differently or pretending so.
