Unilever is back with a robust result. Backed by massive advertising and promotional campaigns globally the sales figures are on a good high, though UK seems not yet getting into grip where sales tumbled four percent. Unilever spent a whopping €500 million for the promotion purposes all over Europe where above the line promotion and advertising consists of more than 66% of the budget. The spending as expected brings in good result for the company and brands like Persil, Knorr, Lipton Tea, Dove top recall lists on market researcher’s notebook.

Unilever’s margin recovered from a dip into negative territory in the fourth quarter of 2004, when the company made a pre-tax loss of €398 million, compared with a profit of €916 million in the three months to the end of December.
