If you are a regular reader of PC Gamer and strangely found out some advertisements from golden farming agency in PC Gamer now you can excuse them for they, it seems, have taken a stand against them.
After losing some ground on the online arena it seems tough time ahead in offline media also for gold farmers. From Feb 2006 issue PC Gamer magazine won’t allow any gold farming agency to advertise on the magazine. Surely the magazine would lose out on lot of revenue from an industry which is not less than trades $100 million per year but now at least the readers wont complain anymore. Popular ones like World of Warcraft though does not deal with trade between players.
The editor writes:
For my part, I sincerely apologize to all of our readers for not being able to make this happen sooner. Unfortunately, ‘the separation of church and state’ that exists between PC Gamer’s ad sales team and editorial team make negotiations like this one tricky. But we’re all on the same page now. Good thing, too, because for a while there I felt like I was a big green dude in purple pants, bearing the weight of an entire mountain on my shoulders.
