
McAfee Inc. has lashed out on Microsoft in a full-page ad published in the Financial Times accusing Microsoft of locking down the upcoming Vista Operating System for non-Microsoft processes. In the advertisement, McAfee has argued it would be almost impossible to protect the Vista Operating System as Microsoft has decided to keep non-Microsoft processes to stay out of the operating system.
However, Symantec had also expressed its deep anguish on this move of Microsoft to restricted non-Microsoft intrusion in its upcoming Operating System. On the other hand, Microsoft is arguing that the new security feature called Kernel PatchGuard will keep the upcoming OS more secure as it allows only certified programs to access the vital parts of Windows.
In the meanwhile, the advertisement argues,
Microsoft is being completely unrealistic if, by locking security companies out of the kernel, it thinks hackers won’t crack Vista’s kernel. In fact, they already have.
