The incessantly declining ad revenue in newspapers, Daily mail and General Trust, is somewhat being compensated by online and digital ad revenue. Classified ad revenue of Associated Newspapers recorded a steep fall of nine percent in just 11 months. However, DMGT, owner of Daily Mail, Evening Standard and Northcliff newspapers, went on record that digital advertising revenue from its digital operations have jumped 22 percent year on year.
The company expects to generate half of its profit in the current business year from its non-newspaper operations. On the other hand, Daily Mail’s circulation is almost stagnant since six months and its price has rose five percent on cover page from Mondays to Fridays. However, the company is seems to be satisfied with the growing digital ad revenue as it contributed £75 million a year out of a total of around £700 million.
