Charter Communications Inc. has started testing a technology which will enable advertisers to update the commercials packaged with on-demand shows an up-to-the minute basis. If the technology turns successful, it will make a major breakthrough as it will change the entire scenario of on-demand television advertising.
The experiment is being carried out on free on-demand programs running on the cable system of Carter’s St. Louis, which is being aired to no less than 250,000 customers.
Moreover, the latest technology will be beneficial to track the consumer’s behavior statistics in respect of an advertisement. For example if a 60 second are being viewed with the fast forward option, the advertisers would be told to cut the length of the advertisement. It will help generating data regarding how many people are watching 30-second ad, how many people are skipping ads etc.
However, Charter Communications has clarified that it will not reveal viewing habits of individual customers.
