The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in Britain has showed green signal to an advert for oven cleaner which sparked a controversy among the âunfair sexâ.
The advertisement claimed that the oven cleaner makes cleaning ââso easy, even a man can do itââ
No surprise, it prompted 673 complaints, saying that the advert portrayed the men as stupid and lazy.
But ASA said that most viewers would see the advert as light-hearted.
ASA approved the reasoning of Homepride Ltd, which manufactures the oven cleaner, that the advert was only intended to raise awareness using tongue-in-cheek humor and that it was not unreasonable to use humor to play on natural gender differences.
