ASA bans PETA’s billboard campaign

Well, the animal lovers have been bitten by the advertising watchdog. ASA has ordered PETA not to run the billboard campaign which features Steven Barker, the man who tortured 17-month-old Peter Connelly and was subsequently found guilty of “causing or allowing” the infant’s death.

In the controversial billboard, PETA tried to prove the intrinsic relation between animal abuse and human torturing. PETA, hoping to come across the message through this real incident, featured the man in the billboard with this copy- people who are violent towards animals rarely stops there.

ASA observed that the billboard was likely “to cause serious offence and distress to some people” banned the billboard
