The Advertising Standards Authority has recently banned a shower gel commercial by Cussons featuring a young looking women sitting naked under a lemon tree. The advertising watchdog has ruled that the content of the ad is offensive and inappropriate. The ASA while clarifying its decision said that though the model appeared in the ad is an adult but there are chances that she might be taken as a child by some people.

The ASA possibly had taken up the case after receiving complaints alleging the model looked under 16 and she was shown in a sexually provocative manner. Therefore, owing to the fact the ASA ruled out that there are sexual overtones and nudity in the ad hence the ad is offensive and inappropriate.

On the other hand, Cussons has reportedly changed the ad after receiving complaints, which were directly made to the company. The company has further clarified that following the judgment of the advertising watchdog they have acted responsibly and changed the ad.
