Glide through time in long journeys with entertaining games

When you plan a road trip, you envision nothing short of fun. But more often than not, when you are traveling with family or even friends, the formidable questions start pouring in and boredom sets the tone down. To make sure your children never get low and start asking “are we there yet?” fill your bag with these ideas of entertaining games. Ease in your seats and get ready for a fun-filled road trip.

  1. The Mile Marker

Everyone in the car has to try and be the first one to spot the mile marker. Go innovative and change the category to road signs or as far as your imagination goes. Keep track of the scores and after a round, the winner gets to decide the next audiobook or CD.

  1. Who are they?

Choose a random car and start building their story. Who are they? Where are they from? What is their relationship? Where are they going? There are no limits to imaginations and this is a great road-trip game for both children and adults.

  1. Odd color cars

At the beginning of the journey, each passenger chooses an odd color that is rare. Next, all through the trip, they spot their color in cars. If someone spots the other passenger’s color first, they can steal away points. Set a reward for the winner at the destination or create levels, and reward the winner of the previous round.

  1. While you were sleeping

In this game, you have to wait for someone to doze off. As soon as someone sleeps, the other passengers start creating a fake story, one line per person. When the sleeping passenger awakes, start narrating the story with “while you were sleeping…”All the plotters join in to make the person believe that the story was true.

If anyone loses character, they lose a point. If someone deviates from the plot you can ask, “are you sure?” and they lose points. If the person is successfully fooled every storyteller gets three points and if the sleeping person joins in on the story accurately, they steal everybody’s points.

  1. The buzz word

A great way to keep children quiet in the journey, you randomly choose a rarely used word and declare it as the buzz word. This word has to be found on the radio/CD, road signs, advertisement boards etc. As soon as someone spots the word they shout “Buzz” and win the round.

  1. The Picnic Game

The game is a great memory tester and also keeps the passengers attentive. Someone starts by saying “I’m going to a picnic and I’m going to bring..” then the other person has to say a word that starts with A. The passengers have to add a word with the next alphabet in the series along with the original sentence with all the words said before them. This game is fun and will leave you in laughter bouts. You can change categories from food, beverages, movies, artists, animals, etc.

  1. Decipher the license plates

A pretty simple game for road travelers, it offers no boundaries to imaginations. All you do is notice license plates of vehicles traveling by and create sentences out of them. This can be given an interesting twist by making it seem like the license plates contain secret codes and linking them together to make the trip a fun travel adventure. This game can be enjoyed by adults as well as children.

  1. Tin foil challenge

Pretty much inexpensive, just hand out sheets of tin foils to your children and give them a category. They have to mold the foils into objects that fall in the given category. Decide upon a judge and score the winner for each round and easily transform long drives into enjoyable and safe trips .

Road trips can end up being tiring andboring, especially for children. To make sure your fellow travelers do not just doze off in the passenger seats, you can use multiple fun games along the way. These games will keep both adults and children alert and active through the trip.
