Cuba

Cuba is an Island country in the Caribbean. Some of the main Islands in the nation of Cuba are the Isla de la Juventud and several archipelagos. The capital city of Cuba is Havana, which is also the largest city there. The United States and Bahamas lies at the north of Cuba, Mexico at the west and Dominican Republic lies at the south eastern part of it.

 

Location

 

Cuba is located at the north of Caribbean Sea at the merging point of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the principal island surrounded by four smaller groups of island like Colorados Archipelago on the north western coast and on the north central Atlantic coast lies, the Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago. While the Jardines de la Reina lies at the south central coast and Canarreos Archipelago on the south western coast.

 

People

 

Tradition is one of the most important aspects in Cuba. The culture of Cuba is much influenced by Spanish culture and African culture too. The total population of Cuba is approximately 11,000,000. They are generally from a religious background.  Spanish is their official language.  The people are generally enthusiastic about sports and other activities. Baseball and basketball are some of the main sporting activities in Cuba.

 

Events

 

Carnivals in Cuba are much talked about affair like its events. Parades march down the city’s famous Malecon oceanfront walkway every August. Some of the common sights seen are fireworks, flowing Cuban beer and rum. These events are celebrated with pleasure and public participation.

The temperature in Cuba rarely falls below 27 degrees C and reaches a maximum of 32 degree Celsius. Though the temperature is hot the year round yet the climate is very pleasant due to the presence of breeze. The climate from May to July onwards is subjected to tropical showers.
