Soberania National Park

Located near the eastern bank of the Panama Canal, Panama Soberania National Park is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the country. The park lies in the provinces of Colon and Panama and is around about 25 kilometers from Panama City. The total area covered under the park is approximately 220 square kilometers and extends to Colon Province. The park is a hot spot for hikers and bird lovers.

Established in 1980, the park houses a rich diversity of species. The National Park provides shelter to over 525 bird species, which include hawks, motmots, toucans, woodpeckers, tanagers, trogons, flycatchers, antbirds, etc. Among these, the rare species are harpy eagles, yellow-eared toucanets, crimson-bellied woodpeckers, sirystes, etc. Over 105 species of mammals, such as agoutis, white-faced capuchin monkeys, Geoffroy’s tamarins, mantled howler monkeys, two-toed sloths, three-toed sloths, anteaters, coatis, etc.

Soberania National Park is an ideal destination for animal lover and nature lover that makes it one amongst the most visited tourist attractions of Panama. Every year thousands of tourists visit the National Park and explore the natural beauty of the region.
