Places you should never visit if you’re scared of ghosts

dinburgh Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland

As a kid, you would have heard some freaky ghost stories that might still haunt your mind. If you are an adult now but are still scared of ghosts, here are some places you should never think of visiting. But, if you think you have become more daring now, you would forget about visiting these whimsical places after hearing the stories about them.

1.     Monte Cristo, New South Wales, Australia

People have horrible experiences of this mansion where they think the owner’s wife, Mrs. Crawley, locked herself up after her husband’s death. Her soul has never ever come out since then and has been lingering inside the mansion. People have been reported to get suffocated here if they go inside. The only way to break the shackles is to come out of this house. Some also turned blue when they came to this place. Those who keep passing by this mansion hear shrilling and weeping sounds of a woman.

2.     Screaming Tunnel, Niagara Falls, Ontario

If you have seen Stephen King’s movie ‘The Dead Zone,’ you might remember this tunnel where the shooting took place. It is said that at the south end of this tunnel connecting Niagara Falls to Ontario and New York, there used to be a farmhouse that caught fire due to unknown reasons. A young girl whose body started burning from this fire ran screaming through this tunnel to seek help. But, she got fully burnt and died here. Since then, it is believed that whoever lights a matchstick in this tunnel gets so badly haunted by the ghost of this girl that he/she doesn’t have an escape for life.

3.     Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India

This fort has a story of its residents getting cursed by a black magic sorcerer that they would all die in an unnatural manner and keep haunting this place for time immemorial. Since then, it is believed that whoever goes to this fort after dusk never returns. You would hardly witness any houses in the periphery of this fort up to some distance. Those who have dared to build houses keep them roofless as it’s a belief that a house with roof in this area has always collapsed. This is one of the most haunted places within the country and even a braveheart doesn’t think of entering here.

4.     Raynham Hall, Norfolk, England

A charming lady in satin brown dress is believed to have been haunting this mysterious place since the time she was confined by her husband in a separate room and was not allowed to see her kids. Colonel Loftus who was holidaying here in 1835 first got a sight of the lady’s ghost. Since then, she has been witnessed by many people there. In 1936, a picture of hers was captured that was later judged by several experts to declare that it is authentic and untouched. In fact, this is the first ever authentically captured photo of a ghost.

5.     Changi Beach, Singapore

It is believed that during the Second World War, Chinese soldiers who were killed by the Japanese army have made their souls rest at this beach where the massacre occurred. Visitors hear screams and weeping of people at this beach. At night, the scene becomes horribly eccentric when headless bodies of those innocent Chinese soldiers are witnessed lying on the beach. Some visitors have also told about burial-like deep pits that could be seen here at night.

6.     The Crescent Hotel, Eureka Springs, Arkansas

There are several witnesses to this 78-year old hotel being badly haunted. Occupants have seen many ghosts here, including Michael’s who had been a stones man working in this hotel and had later fell down from the hotel’s roof that is currently room number 218. People have also witnessed Doctor Baker’s ghost in Victorian-style clothes that roams around the ground and haunts the hotel lobby.
