In 1999 this Oasis had a total population of 155 people. Population may have changed but the enigmatic charm of the legendary lagoon has not. It is often referred to as the ‘Oasis of America’. According to local legends it was just a pool once and when a stunning princess came to it, chased by a hunter, it turned into a lagoon and gave shelter to the princess. The story tells that the princess lived in the lagoon as a mermaid thereafter.

People have been living near this desert for 5000 years but now it has been transformed into a recreational park with the hope of attracting more tourists.
