Ivindo National Park

Ivindo National Park

Established in 2002, Ivindo National Park is situated in central-eastern parts of Gabon. The park is bisected by the equator. The total area covering the park is approximately 3,000 square kilometers and lies within the city of Makokou.

The park provides shelter to verities of wild animals including buffalo, pig, forest elephant, gorilla, and chimpanzee and so on. Verities of bird species such as Buff-spotted, Gabon & Brown-eared Woodpecker, Yellow-whiskered, Golden, Honey guide, Spotted, Yellow-throated Green Hylia, Violet-backed Hyliota, Forest Robin and many more also find safe haven in the park.

Eye pleasing attraction includes the famous Kongou Falls, and Langoué Bai. Presently, various partners that include Ivindo National Park, Tropical Ecology Research Institute (IRET), FIGET, CARPE, Gabon Ministry of Water and Forests, Pond Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation manage Ivindo National Park. Every year thousands of tourists visit the park and explore the natural beauty of the region.
