Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain is located in the district Municipality of North Vancouver in British Columbia and is one of the North Shore Mountains of the Pacific Ranges. The original ski area consists of Grouse Mountain lodge built by Scandinavians in the 1920s. Later, in 1930, a toll road was built to the top via the slope that is the primary pathway to access the road at present. The mountain has built a 1.5-megawatt wind turbine at the peak of resort. It supplies 25 percent of the resort’s electricity. At an altitude of 4,000 ft, the Grouse Mountain features chairlifts, facilitating 26 runs.

The Grouse Mountain is a home to the Tyee Ski Club, which is an organization for training children and youth to become competitive alpine ski racers in slalom, giant slalom and super-giant slalom skiing. The hiking trails on the mountain are well known as the Grouse Grind, a steep trail that climbs 853 meters from the bottom of the trail to the Grind Timer at the top of the trail over a distance of 2.9 km. In the winter, visitors can enjoy skiing and snowboarding, aside from snowshoeing, ice-skating, eco-hikes, lumberjack shows, and wildlife.
