Gondwana Rainforests are located in Australia, and are called as the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves. These forests are the most extensive area of subtropical rainforest in the world. The rainforests are considered a world heritage site having fifty reserves clustered around New South Wales.

The forests are considered of high importance from conservation point of view, since they are a habitat for more than 200 threatened species of flora and fauna. The forest comprises of various protected areas. The Gondwana rainforests have outstanding examples of the oldest world’s ferns form the Carboniferous period.

It is home to the oldest lineages of the Corvida, including birds such as the superb lyrebird, rufous scrub bird, tree creepers, and bowerbirds. The parks that make up the Gondwana Rainforests act like ecological islands. Many animal and plants species are restricted to the particular park area.

Reptile species in the rainforests include leaf-tailed gecko, angle headed dragons, pouched frogs and barred frogs. The forests consist of at least 80 species of mammals. The outstanding geological features that are displayed around the shield volcanic craters in the forests area attract several visitors. Activities like trekking and walking tracks can be done. Various guided tours are organized along with accommodation options.
