Islands give you that much needed secluded feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of life, where you can just let your hair down and cool your feet. If you have always wanted to go to one but never mustered up courage thinking it is going to be way too expensive, there are some budget islands you can go for. They do not compromise on natural beauty and style and are easy on the pockets as well.

  • Faroe Islands – The lesser known Faroe Islands is the perfect getaway island on a budget. It is an archipelago of 18 islands and is a self-governing kingdom within Denmark. The islands lie northwest of Scotland and is in the middle of the way between Iceland and Norway. The climate is mild because of the Gulf Stream and visitors often wonder at the constantly changing weather in a single day. There are a horde of things you can do especially if you like biking, hiking, etc. The food and shopping is great and the islands boast of having the cleanest air in the world.
  • Alibey – This lesser known resort town on a small island in the Aegean Sea,Turkey is also sometimes called Cunda Island . There are several picturesque beaches like Kagia and Agios Ermogonis which are popular with both locals and tourists. Beautiful architecture in churches of post-Byzantine area also add that touch of being in a remote island and make you feel like you are part of another world.
  • Kos  – This is a lesser known island than the Santorini and is thus cheaper and virgin. When on the Kos Island, you can do a myriad of activities like go for a traditional Hamam spa, mountain bike- ride or go sailing on a yacht or learn windsurfing and kite flying. You can also go on a one-day excursion to Nisyros Island which is nearby and you can do all of this on a budget!
  • Tenerife , Canary Islands – Tenerife is a beautiful island and is the largest amongst all the Canary Islands. There are spectacular beaches and volcanoes and valleys and what not! The nightlife is amazing for tourists to check out and there are also neighbouring islands for you to explore in case you feel like.
