Bateke Plateau National Park

Bateke Plateau National Park is a wildlife reserve, located in the Haut-Ogooue Province, which is in the southeastern part of Gabon. Established in 2002, the park covers a total area of 2,034 square kilometers. It is three-hour ride from the capital city, Libreville. UNESCO has listed the park as the World Heritage Tentative list on October 20, 2005 for its cultural and natural importance.

The main aim behind creating the park was to protect and conserve the natural habitat from the external threats like hunting and pouching. The area comes under the authority of the Head of State and is governed by the Gabonese central powers.

It is ideal destination for natural and animals lovers. The park has rich biodiversity and is suitable for campaigning. The Bateke Plateau National Park features series of plateaus, hills, valleys, tropical forest, and wetlands and offers many pictorial landscapes. The park provides shelter to verities of mammal species such as elephants, lions, tigers, monkeys, gorillas and many more.

Every year thousands of tourists visit this place and explore the natural beauty of the region.
